Learn to Rock Climb
If you're a complete beginner or only have experience of climbing at an indoor wall, this course will get you onto rock.
The course aims to teach participants the core climbing skills to be a competent second on a variety of rock climbs.
- The course will run on a 1:2 ratio.
- The course will concentrate on teaching participants to gain sufficient experience and ability to competently bottom rope or second a variety of rock climbs.
- Technical sessions will include efficient rope management, belaying (including holding falls and lowering), anchor selection and protection methods (use of nuts, camming devices etc).
- Coaching in personal climbing skills, such as movement on rock, will so be covered.
- Personal skills such as abseiling using self protection methods, and prusiking will also be covered.
- There will be discussions on the environment, access agreements and climbing etiquette.
- We will climb at a variety of crags , such as Duntelchaig, Kingussie, Huntley's Cave, and the sandstone sea cliffs of Cummingston and Logie Head.
Basically you will learn how to be a safe and responsible climber.
Price for 3 days £250
25% reduction for second person, when two people book together.

Young Climbers Club
Are you interested in joining a Young Peoples Climbing Club?
Are you aged between 12 and 17?
The club will run on Saturdays from 12th May- 30th June
Sessions to run from 10am – 4pm
Activities will include
- Climbing
- Abseiling
- Bouldering
- Navigation skills, [how to find the crag]
Skills taught will include
- Belaying
- Equipment
- Knots and ropework
- Climbing techniques
Sessions will run rain or shine. We will climb when we can, during poor weather we will practice other skills, and run other relevant activities.
These are not taster days, but are meant to be a serious introduction to climbing and the necessary skills to have a safe and fun day out.
All safety and technical Equipment will be supplied except for climbing shoes.
Climbing shoes will not be needed for the initial days.
Initially days will be on local crags, within 30minutes of Inverness
We are also looking for a few parents who might be able to help with the transport.
These parents will be able to attend the sessions for free and would gain a useful insight into climbing outdoors.
Ratios will be between 1:6 and 1:8
The course will run for between 6 and 8 days depending on demand.
Individual days will cost £25 pounds but there will be a reduced rate of £20 to those booking up for the full course.
